WHAT'S THE CORRECT SIZE ELECTRIC MOTOR TO REPLACE 3 PHASE ONE FOR A SINGLE PHASE?
I just bought an Air Compressor Quincy. But this use 3 Phase Electric Motor, and I just have Single phase. Could you check what Electric Motor can buy in order to replace the 3 Phase one? Here are the Specification from the aluminum tag.: BALDOR CAT NO. 127466E027 SPEC. 35B101T469H3 HP. SPL AMPS. 3.2/1.6 VOLTS. 230/460 RPM. 1725 SER. F. 1.15 PH. 3 FRAME. 143T CODE. K DES. B CLASS. B NEMA NOM. EFF. 82.5% PF. 83% ENCL. OPSB 40 C AMB-CONT. SN F0108081763800W

You have to know the horsepower. A single phase at that power may overload your circuit breaker.

By multiplying the amps times voltage. In your case 3.2 A x 230 V= 736 Watts, which is almost equal to 1 H.P.746 Watts to be exact. So that you are going to go single phase the amperage will be higher. I would go with at least a 1.5- 2 HP if possible on a air com. Frame 143T and shaft size and RPM, and duty cycle should be the same. I hope that will help you. There are lots of electric motor dealers out there you might even check with Graingers if there is one in your area. I would also call Baldor and let them come up with viable solution if necessary. A 5 HP single phase is around $700. is one their web site. Ouch!

You need a 1 HP capacitor start motor with a 1.15 service factor (or higher) . If you buy a China made motor you will need 1.5 HP because they cheat on the ratings.
