What is a good 1 gallon tank for a betta?
I'm looking to upgrade my bettas 1/2 gallon tank to a 1 gallon w/ a filter. I know he should ideally be in something a little larger, but I'm currently a college student without the room or the cash to pay for something larger. What are the best 1 gallon tanks that you know of/have experienced? Any suggestions are appreciated!

I know you can get a one gallon tank from Wal*Mart for like 10.00. I don't think that they make filters for one gallon tanks instead they use air pumps that will keep them alive, and are really quiet.

Most pet stores will sell all-inclusive type tanks ranging from 1/2 gallons to 10 gallons, they have the hood, the filter, and a light and all that stuff. Wal-Mart will definitely have the best prices, just make sure you buy one that doesn't have to use their specific filters, they have a lot of those!

2.5 is the minimum amount of water a betta should live in. Even a properly set up 1 gallon with a filter and heater will run 30-40 dollars. Why not save a little more and just buy the proper sized tank. It's cheaper in the long run anyway. Also consider, I have bought 10 gallon tanks at chain stores like petco & petsmart for 20 dollars with a hood. A small filter will cost 10 or so dollars and mini heaters for 10 gallons run between 7 and 10 dollars.

i used to have my betta in this 1.5 gallon and i just gave it to a person who is going off to university and needed a small tank as well ... it is called the tetra whisper, 20 dollars at petco ... includes filter, light and even some plants ... it is pictured in the link as grey but it also comes in black ... there is a little drawer in the base to store the fish food ...

they sell really cheap and nice ones at wal-mart, but there are no filters for a one gallon tank.

As long as you have a warm room and you regularly clean and change water, going to a larger bowl is not really an upgrade. It is the temperature and maintenance that matters, not so much the bowl size. Sometimes you can find one gallon glass pickle jars. Not as common as they once were, but they still do show up and if you time it right, they may be free. They don't have any flat sides, but they are so large in diameter that you still get a good view of your bettas.

Like some people mentioned 2.5 is the minimum. If you're on a budget craigslist and kijiji are your friend. I'm sure you can find a decent size tank for cheap. Then, heaters only cost $10 - $20.

As my grandmother said "Do not replace garbage with garbage" Anyhow 1 gal tank is too small, simply its too small. 2.5 gal is the bare minimum (heated and filtrated) that u cant really go lower than, 5 gal or above is the recommended size

this + heater= very happy betta
