Today's Discussion

Anyone know if I can build/upgrade my Ryobi table saw and turn it into a contrator cabinet table saw?
I want to take my cheap ryobi table saw and make it more like the big cabinet table saws the pros use. Does anyone know how or if this can be done. I would want a whole new fence system and an extended miter track. Ideas... and don't say get a new/better saw.

I don't see why you couldn't do what you're saying... for it to be accurate, you'd have to be dead on balls straight on all you're tracks. I've seen replacement table tops for sale online and I've also seen damaged goods sales where the saw was destroyed but the table didn't look bad. If you get your hands on a good cabinet... mounting the saw should be relatively easy. Good luck, good idea... I probably have the same little plastic 10 amp saw you have!!! Good price and powerful, just a tad small.

I KNOW it can be done. I have seen several workshop type shows where something like this WAS the project of the day. MANY contractors custom build the tables they use. The primary difference between a good circular saw and a good table saw is the table. You can even buy or build a table to mount a normal circular saw in.
