yes. there are some incredibly cheap ones. but they are total junk. some only tell you if there is a code, not what it is. decent personal use ones are in the $200-$300 range. most shops will scan it with their very high end scanner for half hour rate, around $50. some shops will scan it for free, i believe aamco does it for free with appointment.
