You could draw whatever. Turn in a piece of blue paper. Who cares it's abstract art. All you have to do is be able to justify and explain whatever bullshit you turn in. Just use warm colors.

Well, what about shapes that lock together? Look at some of M. C. Escher's interlocking pattern-pictures where the background of one thing makes up the body of another -- that might inspire you. If you also use colours that harmonize with each other and suggest warm feeling, perhaps that would do the trick! Or take the words 'love', 'friendship', 'emotions' and write them in an abstract calligraphy style like a really exaggerated Gothic script or Arabic-looking script. Turn the abstract-ized words into an art composition, with an explanation of how the designs come from the words. Hope this helps.

well while I was never that great at abstract there were some tricks I learned to help. First think on the idea of love and what comes to mind? Hearts, rings, cupid, holding hands, flowers, maybe even music. The trick I used for abstracting was gathering images or symbols of what I wanted to convey and sketching them out. After you do this re-sketch them more simplified. A third time should break the subject into the most basic geometric shapes and lines. Choose several you like and arrange these images onto paper or canvas (I prefer to paint abstract I find the brush strokes lend more to the primal quality I want to achieve). To abstract one more level crop some of these images and enlarge. Don't be afraid to go bold with color. The most common colors thought of when describing love are red, pink, green, and gold. However don't be afraid to use other colors if others fit better to your perception of the subject. Hope this helps :)
