Has anyone filed their taxes for air conditioner?
We are trying to file our taxes and we seem to be having a problem with getting the rebate for the air conditioner. We changed it 2009 and it does meet all the requirements. what is going on? I think it not just me ,but also people who changed their windows or whatever meets the energy requirements. Yes my ac does qualify,I do have the certificate and my home is in the U.S . What do you mean non refundable ? From the way the government said it and the ac contractor it sounded like your supposed to get money back. Did I miss something?

Does the A/C qualify (it had to be top of the line and not every contractor had them)? You should have gotten a certificate if it did. Was this on your home in the US? Did you owe any tax? It's a non-refundable credit. Non-refundable means you look at the line that shows taxable income and then the line for tax under it. (line 44 on the 1040). If you owe tax, the credit can reduce it, but not past $0. if you do not owe tax, the credit is worthless to you.
