What is the proper name of the coolant liquid that is put in air conditioning fans outside of a residence?
The other day, I had an appliance come repair my air conditioning unit. He went outside to where the fan for the Air con. is located and said it was low on "____." and he had to refill it I can't remember exactly which term he used and its driving me crazy. Thanks

It's called R-22 Freon! Papaw

HVAC Mechanical Systems
The industries name is call Refrigerant gas (freon gas), your systems might be using R22 or R410A, these are the two major refrigerant gas used in air conditioner. Good luck. HvacMechanicalSystems.com

Thats a new one, most appliance guys are not certified to work on residential units. Having said that. He probably said charge, refrigerant, freon or R-22 (R-22 is the type of refrigerant the system has). So in other words, if they "toped it off" you have a leak in the system. You need to call a real HVAC company and FIND the leak and have it fixed correctly. The system should never need a "top off." Then entire life of the system. Your are going to have issues with it. If he charged it when it was say 60-65 degrees outside, he not knowing what he was doing, probably overcharged and and you may not have a leak at all.
