Today's Discussion

Is it legal for me to buy and use a non-two toned airsoft weapon in the UK?
I'm planning on starting up Airsoft, and have found a SRC M4A1 Carbine, but it is fully black and not two toned, and I know little bits about the two tone idea, but was wondering whether I could buy and use it legally in the UK? If not, I would really appreciate some recommended websites for reasonably priced airsoft weapons. My range is from 0-150 quid! Cheers, Rhys By using it, I mean at airsoft "battlefields".

you can use it on private property, no matter what the colour is. You can not carry any air soft weapon down the road, no matter if it painted pink!

It Is illegal to buy black guns if you are not ukara registered, most professional airsoft shops will do a two tone service for around 12 pound also look at the g&g combat machine m4 on land warrior airsoft for a good gun under 150 :)

First off, the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (VCRA) only covers the sale, manufacture, or importation of Realistic Imitation Firearm's (RIF's). It does not affect ownership or use. It is not even illegal for you to buy one, only for someone to sell you one, they will be commiting the offence not you. To buy ANY airsoft weapon (RIF or two tone) you must be over the age of 18. To buy Realistic Imitation Firearm's (RIF's) instead of "two tones" you also need to qualify for an exemption to the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (VCRA). The airsofter's exemption requires that you can prove that you are a regular skirmisher (at insured sites) and is usually through the UKARA database. UKARA membership is not compulsory and it is NOT A LICENSE. Be aware that it is an offence under the VCRA to modify a non RIF to make it more realistic. So if you paint a two tone black you can be prosecuted. No UK based retailer will sell you a RIF without proof of your exemption. If this is a foreign import then the most likely outcome is that it will be impounded and then destroyed at point of entry to the UK. As has been previously said some retailers will two tone a weapon for you for a small fee, other wise try Action Hobbies 'professional' grade two tones
