Today's Discussion

Allergy relief?
I was wondering if anyone had any natural allergy relief solutions. I've been taking Claritin all summer, but I've recently developed what we believe to be an allergy to antihistamines which resulted in a few trips to the hospital. The doctors told me not to take any antihistamines or decongestants until we figure out exactly what is wrong. When I asked them for alternative ways to relieve the sinus pressure, they told me to just deal with it. Any suggestions?

If you have like a naturals or herbal store near you, I think that would be the best bet. Go in and tell them your problem and they should be able to find something to help you. I have really bad summer allergies too, my doctor put me on alegra. It worked untill my system built up a tolerance to it, so every year I have to get a higher dosage.

Try this link. Hope there is something there that helps.

The only thing I can think of to tell you is to get some honey from your local area and take a teaspoon or two a day. This won't relieve the sinus pressure but it will help your body build up a resistance to whatever it is that is causing the allergy. I have developed an allergy to corn pollen and I live in an area where there are fields and fields of corn! I take local honey every day and it has really helped me.

A few things........ Grape seed extract is a natural antihistamine, might want to ask Dr. I have some info on it if you want to email me. Rid your home of all cleaners, bleaches, ammonias, air fresheners, etc. They are awful for your immune system. Use a Saline solution up your nose. Take a good vitamin. Not one that goes thru your system whole and then comes out, but one that is absorbed by your body.

Maybe it's asthma?

I agree that you might benefit from holistic or herbal remedies. Meanwhile, you could try hot steamy drinks: That gave me a huge ammount of relief the last time I was sick. Good luck!
