She should be an inspiration, however many of the people I know do not appreciate her paintings. Personally I don't consider her work to be classic Americana, I know most people do - I consider handicraft such as quilting to be Classic American, but that is just my opinion. That she didn't start painting until her later years is inspirational. Personally I never think about her when I want to do something - I usually just go for it.

She is an inspiration to me when I think about how she was able to touch on her creativity late in life. I would love to have my artwork sold & displayed if not just for the influx of new cash.

she was very creative if not a museum-quality artist. People need hobbies and see what they can accomplish. Some of the old patchwork quilts in the south that weren't all matching or have patterns are in demand in art museums today, and junk artists, guys who take old wheels and pitchforks and things and create sculptures, there are buyers who go around getting them at cheap prices and they end up selling them in high-end websites, bringing thousands of dollars.
