It is good to know what you are looking for in an antique crystal chandelier. There are several guides that you can purchase on this topic, that go into great detail about the characteristics that you should look for.

However, if you are still unsure, it is wise to enlist the services of an appraiser. An appraiser would have a well trained eye for the little details that will validate the authenticity of the antique crystal chandelier.

First off, in order for anything to be considered "antique", it has to be at least on hundred years old and can be dated back as far as the 1600's. So, the antique crystal chandeliers that have been preserved well enough to still be functional will look aged.

Also, antique crystal chandelier were only made from bronze, brass and crystal, and even though all the antique chandeliers fuel sources were usually candles or kerosene, some have been wired to use electric.

Once you have found your treasure, you will want to maintain its beauty, however, it is recommended that you do not try and clean it on your own. Instead, it should be taken to an antique restoration specialist instead.

Trying to find value of vintage swarovski crystal chandelier?
A good friend gave me an eight light vintage swarovski crystal chandelier. I don't know how to find out the value of it. The Internet searches seem to be no help. Anyone have knowledge in this area?

Please take it to a legitimate antique store and ask for a valuation. Also, call the local art museum in your community and ask for the name of someone to value your antique. They are very knowledgeable. It is valuable if it is genuine. Do not sell it to the first person who values it for you. Tell them it is for insurance purposes. Or, ask your insurance company who they would refer you to in order to have it valued.
