Today's Discussion

How can I remove stains from an antique lamp shade?
Some stains are water stains and others look darker like soda.... I have already cleaned the shade with Shout and a toothbrush and a damp cloth. The stains are still there but not as dark. Help. This lamp shade is very old, and was brought in to me from storage. I dont know what the stains are, but they look like water stains and some sort of soda?? I dont know what to try with harming the fabric. I have already tried the Shout and water, someone said to try Vinegar and water... but I really dont know what else to do. Should I take it to a pro?

Lamp shades are going to get dirty. No matter how clean you keep your house, dust, dirt and grime are going to make their way to your lamp shades. Cleaning your lamp shades can be a tricky task. You may be worried about wetting your lamp shades with water or using a vacuum to clean them. It is possible, however, to clean your lamp shades without going to a lot of trouble.

I'd try any aerosol carpet or upholstery cleaner, gently.
