It's really not a good idea yet; an 8-month old's system can't really process toddler foods very well.

If the baby has teeth to chew then soft food cut really small is fine. My ped had me start some baby food at 4 mo's, then baby food with meat at 6 mo's. By 8 mo's they can for sure handle any baby food aside from allergies or lactose intolerance. You just gotta check how many teeth the baby has before giving stuff that has to be chewed.

what do you mean by toddler food? the baby should be fine with cheerios and step three baby food. of course anything that can be swallowed easy should be fine. just no popcorn or hot dogs. also no milk or chocolate yet. thats the best i can answer because i am not sure what you mean by toddler food.

At 8 months, he can eat whatever he wants (except things like honey, popcorn, peanut butter, shellfish, and milk). As long as she makes the pieces small and mushy enough and watches to make sure he doesn't have an allergic reaction to a new food.

I have never heard of a physician who suggested withholding food from a baby until a year, although some mothers do it on their own. Most babies are started on solids at about the middle of the first year. Some are started on semi solids like applesauce, but some are allowed to feed themselves from the table. I have never heard of a physician recommending giving food to a 2 months old. Breastmilk or formula should be the bulk of the baby's diet for the first year. I don't know what you consider "toddler fixings" but I don't see a problem with it. many 8 month olds are eating the same foods that their parents are, within reason. Of course, one has to be careful of choking hazards for several years.

The doctor seriously said to wait until a year? I'd maybe see a different doctor because babies can be on table food before then. My 7 month old eats home cooked table food
