Baby walkers?
I've read lots of bad things about baby walkers - that they are dangerous, teach babies to walk badly and give them bow legs!! Not sure if any of that is true but I wasn't going to buy one. Then I tried my baby in one and he loved it! Should I get one???

Go for it - 30 mins a few time a day didnt do my girls any harm and they both walk perfectly x

My son had one from 5 months and is now 3 and totally healthy he walked at 10 and a 1/2 months so it didn't slow down his walking if anything I think it strengthened his legs! I think they are only unsafe if you leave your child unattended in them especially if you have stairs as they do learn to go really fast!! All my friends used them and they're children are all healthy and walk fine!! Good luck xx

My friend had one. Her baby loved it too. He never had a problem from it. Most importantly if you do decide to buy one is that you don't leave him in it for extended periods of time, or use it as something to contain him in when you're unable to watch him every second. A playpen is better for those instances.

a better alternative is a thing called an "exersaucer" it teaches baby to use her/his legs and is highly educational andl very fun. Our 4-month daughter loves hers and the doctore reccomeded it. you can get one at Target. Yea!

I think if you leave your child in a baby walker they will walk badly and have bow legs. However if you are a responsible person (which by asking this question Im sure you are), you will prob only put them in it a few times per day. I dont think you need to worry. Also they are not dangerous, they are only dangerous if you leave a child unattended. Get one, your child will love it

only for a very short time a day. my mates kid ended only being able to walk on tip toes and had to have physio therapy and he didnt use it much. much better to get a truck or something they can push

I think it depends on the age of the baby, too young and they will be too much pressure on the legs and hips. you need to check the safety of the walker, and also where your baby will be when in the walker, away from danger, steps, fire etc. personally I would not use one

they tel peeps loads of bul nowadays like u should'nt eat this u shouldnt do this my sis is pergnant and she's been told she cant eat certain things, my mum an my nans answer to that was that they never ad any of that wen they were pregnant an thier kids turned out fine, it's ur baby u do what u think is best, my bro ad one wen he was a baby and he is walking fine and is quite a fast runner aswell, me personal yes i wud get one they are fun and teaches them 2 walk, howeva if u do get one then i would suggest thet u watch ur feet as they love to run them over lol :-)

Well, yes they are dangerous - when they're used as babysitters. Kids can walk themselves right to tumbling down a staircase! Every toy or "helpful" tool is dangerous unsupervised. As with everything, moderation will prevent the bad walking. If your child is only ever in the walker, they will walk incorrectly. But, if your child is allowed to walk by themselves while learning to walk, everything will probably be fine. That being said - the walker is one of those things that I consider useless and a waste of money (just like bottle warmers, wipe warmers, entertainment saucers, jumpers, etc.). Your son doesn't need a walker. Without it, he'll learn to walk better faster anyway. Your son "loved" it because it was new to him. You could have put him in a cardboard box and he'd probably love that too...that's what's so great about kids. To buy something just because he loves it is setting you up for a lifetime of being broke :-) So, in short (or not so short), my opinion is no, you shouldn't.

If you use one you should make sure that the babies weight is not totally on his feet. They can be dangerous as I know of babies who have fallen down the stairs in one, especially if they have older siblings who leave doors open. It does give babies access to things that they could not normally reach. I used one for my daughter for short periods and she loved it but I always kept her in the same room as me. She crawled at eight months and walked at 12 months. It is one of those things that everybody has an opinion on. You have to decide what is right for you. Hope this helps :)

walkers are fine so long as you limit their time in them so they still get plenty of time on the floor. however easier said than done my son liked it so much he screamed when i put him on floor he just loved the fact he could move around in this he did delay his walking though so id wouldnt recommed them or use them with my next baby. you can buy a baby gym they are like a walker the fact that they get to sit up the same but they havent got wheels and their feet are flat on the ground may be a better choice

If every baby that had used a walker ended up with bow legs imagine how many people you would see on the street with bow legs, its absolute rubbish.
