The guy at the store was "overly optimistic." A typical CO2 BB gun (not airsoft, and not blowback) might get about 100-150 shots, but that varies depending on ambient temperature, condition of the seals, shooting technique and the model of BB gun. I don't think you should expect 200 shots out of that pistol all the time. For sure, you can't expect 5000 shots out of a 12g powerlet. A BB gun with a mechanical blowback effect typically gets 50-70 shots per 12g powerlet. The Blowback effect uses up a LOT of CO2.

With most of the Crosman CO2 pistols you get anywhere from 40 to 80 full power shots. Then you can shoot another 100 or so, but at much lower velocity.
