Today's Discussion

Do you have a craftsman "quiet glide" tool box or a ball bearing?
Are the ball bearing ones that much better than quiet glide. I can't tell the difference between the quiet glide and the regular drawers with no bearings. Should I wait and get a ball bearing tool box instead of getting a quiet glide right now?

My tool box has the ball bearings. I didnt pick it out, my wife got it for me as a christmas present 2 years ago. Personally I dont think there is much difference either. After I got it, I went to Sears, and looked at them both, and didnt see much difference. But being a Craftsman, you cant go wrong with which ever one you pick out. I dont know if the return policy on their tool boxes is the same as their tools (If it breaks, they replace it) but Ive never had a problem taking a broken tool back to Sears and getting a new replacement. Ive even bought broken Craftsman tools at garage sales for like a quarter, fifty cents, and taken them to Sears for a replacement. Hope that helps in your decision.

i have the ball bearing style, it's heavy duty'er! heehee. it all depends on how much stuff you got. i have a lot of sockets, wrenches, air tools, and impact sockets, so that's why i got what i did. my new years resolution is to move some things around so it don't tip over and kill me! good luck and and more tools to ya! happy new year!

I have a ball bearing type and I hate it! But I have the big a$$ rolling cart toobox that I have to push around a plant all night,(it weighs over 1000 lbs and is over 5' long) and the drawers don't stay shut. They bouce back open when I close them. I've even replaced the drawer pulls (twice) with the heavier ones that Craftsman offers. I have to keep locking and unlocking it to keep the drawers shut. And now my locks are worn out. Looking at getting the newer style with the lift up handles. Can't afford MAC or Snap-on. But I have too much invested in mine, since I built a custom frame under it with leaf spring suspension and 2-10" wheels mounted in the center to give me a zero turning radius. Sorry didn't mean to start bit*hing.... Depends on how much weight you put in the drawers. If you fill both types of drawers with heavy stuff, the ball bearings drawers will still open easily. If you're going to leave your box sit in a shop or garage go with the ball bearings. Otherwise, if you're going to be moving it around a lot like I do then get the slides.
