How will blue come through in dark hair?
I have dark brown hair (close to black) and I was thinking of dying my hair blue but I wanted it to be a dark blue, not bright. How will it come out? Also are there any blue hair dyes you would recommend? I want it something like this colour Thanks heaps.

Depending on the dye it will have a blue tint. I recommend Special Effects brand hair dye it works really well. Don't get Manic Panic it does not work well. I have used both of those and other dyes before and from my experience Special Effects works best.

If you don't want to bleach your hair and it's dark, it might just have a slight hint of blue (will probably only show in sunlight). If you bleach your hair, you should probably tone it if it has a very yellow color afterwards. Blue+Yellow=Green. So if you put blue hair dye on very yellow blonde you're just going to end up with green hair. As for hair dyes, Special Effects, Jerome Russel's Punky Colour are really good. Beyond the Zone and Manic Panic are decent. Color Fiend= Fail!

I suppose part of the problem is that a lot of younger fans come to the blues through rock and blues-rock artists, and their heroes aren't Memphis Minnie or Magic Sam, but Bonnie Raitt or Kenny Wayne Shepherd (both fine artists, by the way, ...
