Bottle Nipples?
My daughter is breastfed, but when I do have to go out, she has to drink from a bottle (pumped breast milk). But she doesn't seem to drink well from the bottle. I've tried lots of different types and I found that Playtex nurser works well for her. But the nipple I currently have is tri-cut. I thought this would be best because she is breastfed. But it still doesn't work for her. I need to find a nipple that is like the breast so I can have some time away when I need it. Does anyone know if there is any? For now I have poked a fee extra holes in the nipple, is this okay to do?

my son had a hard time taking the bottle. I finally tried NUK brand and he took those!!

I think Dr. Brown bottles have nipples for breastfed babies.

It is ill advised to poke extra holes in nipples, or so I've heard. I am also a breastfeeder. My daughter only does well with Gerber nipples. I think it is just a baby by baby thing, so just keep experimenting. (Pretty expensive experiment, I know. Sorry. Stick in there).

First off how old is the baby? After three months most babies need a larger flow (Stage two nipples) After five months you can actually start your baby on a sippy cup...with assistance, first stage sippy cups are actually more like breastfeeding, the way they suck the cup more similar to sucking on the nipple.

I started training my breast fed baby to take a bottle about two weeks ago so I could get to the gym a few times a week. At first I started with an orthodonic nipple--she hated it!!! Then I moved onto a wide mouth bottle made by Avent. After several attempts I found that this nipple worked wonders. It is much more like a woman's breast than the ortho nipple. But, then I learned that most plastic baby bottles leach BPA, a chemical that mimicks human hormones and is known to cause obesity, cancer, and early puberty, when heated. Just search the internet and you'll learn which bottles do and don't have this chemical in them. Then I did some research, and ordered Born Free bottles at diapers.com. The wide nipple is much like that of the Avent nipples and she took to them right away. It cost a bit more money to order the Born Free bottles, but my baby's health is worth it. Orders off of diapers.com have free shipping if you have an order at $50 or more, and you can search the web for a $10 off coupon. Good luck!!

try avent, the shape is the closest to the mother's breast, just compare the size of the nipple to the nipple of other bottles and you will see the avent ones are huge, playtex drop ins also have a big nipple
