Looking for information on BPA in baby bottles?
I have Avent baby bottles and just switched to glass, but I was hoping to use the Avent as sippy cups down the road for water or juice. How does the bpa leak into the bottle? I know it is released when the bottle is heated. But if a bottle is heated once does that cause leakage for subsequent uses even if it is not heated? I can't seem to find this info?

BPA leaks when the plastic is heated, allowing the molecules to move around. Once the bottle is heated, the molecular structure is altered in a way that allows continuous release, but theoretically, most of the leaking should occur while the bottle is being heated. So the real problem would be heating liquid in the bottle as the BPA would leak into the formula/milk being prepared. Avent bottles supposedly have higher concentrations of BPA then others. I use Born Free sippy cups for my son (BPA free). Medula makes BPA free bottles, but I have no idea if they make sippy cups.

The Avent Magic Trainer cups do not contain BPA, so you can safely use them in the future if you want. More information here:
