Why did Bush remover N Korea from Axis of Evil?
In the twilight of his troubled presidency, George Bush has brought the isolated state of North Korea in from the cold with a promise to remove the country he once truculently described as part of the "Axis of Evil" from a terror blacklist, opening the way for eventual diplomatic relations. Drew Bloodsd .........I'm correcting you. N Korea lied to Bush and he ate it up. They never stopped working on their nukes. budleit2 ........so why did Bush remover them from the Axis of Evil? Are we now Chicken shit afraid of China?

Still campaigning in 57 States
He didn't.

Massive Mann
Really, his people made promises to Kim that Kim is now Breaking. I hope Obama doesn't fall for the same crap.

Skaggmo
He didn't. He clearly named North Korea as part of the Axis of Evil

Duchess X
Probably so he could claim a 'victory' on his asinine 'war against terror'. Just another false claim by the Bush clowns

Perhaps NK contributed to the Bush Library.

well since the state department is made up of pacifist appeasers, he took advice from them to bring them back to the sham called 'the six party' talks thinking they would change their ways for better. obviously the appeasers were wrong as usual in all past appeaser roles.

He made a deal and sent N. Korea billions of dollars wrapped in bubble wrap, the way he did to Pakistan. Bush destroyed the US economy by trying to bribe every nation in the world with our taxpayer cash.

Well unlike some are saying he didn't, he did. But he did so on a very thin line. It can be reversed very quickly. Every president since Harry Truman has always given NK pre-conditioned agreements only for NK to turn around and break them. One day NK needs to get their azz handed to them.

Because the Axis of evil never existed it was a label invented by a retard. You can't call a nation evil, its retarded.

Drew Bloodsd
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't North Korea starting to play nice until Barack Obama became president? Bush might have been a cowboy, but after invading two countries and giving the bird to the rest of the world, at least rogue nations like North Korea knew he meant business.

budleit2
They lied about it during the Clinton Administration too. Neither Republican or Democrat did anything about them because they are afraid of China and the world out cry. Yes he bowed to political pressure when they said they would stop. Of course they lied when they said they would stop, but that doesn't matter to the UN so Bush caved and took them off the list.

We really dont seem to know whats happening in North Korea. By all indications North Korea seemed to be progressing well diplomatically with the US, by deactivating their reactor with an American decommissioning team, working with our diplomats to get on the road to normalized relations, all things seemed rosy as far as we knew. Then Kim Jong il had that suspected stroke, at that point things changed and they started not playing ball, I think its becuase the rest of the world thinks if Kim Jong is gone, then they can transform the North, or Kim Jong may not be coherent enough to make decisions on his own and people in his inner party are calling the shots to try to protect themselves, I may be wrong, but I dont think Bush is to blame for this.

So he can keep his oil war going.

As a favor to The Democrats in Congress, They also wanted to renew relations with Cuba but Bush stood fast on that. Get a life.

I never did think the label "Axis of Evil" was appropriate for any nation. Besides being arrogantly judgmental, nations are comprised of people who have many different attributes or attitudes, and after the illegal war in Iraq or torture of detainees, just who are we to label any other nation "evil"? To understand Kim Jong IL, one must understand Asian culture, and must also pay attention to such human characteristics as short stature, etc., which might effect behaviors and attitudes. (Example: I married a rather short man, who overcompensated by being a bully or a swaggart.) In addition, there are some personality types who give in or try to negotiate when challenged, but more often there are those who dig in their heels and become obstinate (as any parent of a toddler can tell you). I think Asian cultures consider Americans to be somewhat boorish and impolite. Let's face it...Bush and Cheney are not very good at diplomacy, and have no patience whatsoever for the nuances and layers of cultures or beliefs other than their own narrow focus. If you paid close attention to each line in President Obama's masterful speech before a vast Muslim audience in Cairo, Egypt, you'd see he was speaking to N. Korea, China, Venezuela, all nations, and the subtleties of his message were tailored to fit each leader's personality, and the culture from which these leaders come. I thought it was brilliant. He's telling these "rogue" leaders/nations, "Look, my first duty as an American president is to protect my people and my country from harm. But that being said, we can certainly talk to each other, iron out our differences, and maybe help each other stay strong in a global economy." He is the first politician who dared to chastize Israel about building more settlements (in violation of an agreement), which was important to Iran and the Palestinians because they have remained angry about our CIA taking part in stealing Palestinian land to give to the Jewish people and create Israel...for many in the Arab world, Israel is considered to be "an occupier" (against the Koran) and "an uninvited guest". When the U.S. backs Israel in order to cater to Jewish voters, Iran's leader feels he must defend his friends (the Palestineans) and be against American and Israel. North Korea has been under heavy sanctions, made even tighter after the recent nuclear test followed by the firing of small missiles from a diffrent location. Cowboy vengeance (i.e., Bush/Cheney strategy) would say "Bomb them!"...but experts say the Korean leader is attempting to gain leverage and seem strong to the world and to his people---made even more important after his recent heart attack/stroke. He is, in essence, the mouse that roared, because his weapons system is woefully inadequate (experts on the region tell us) for any type of attack. He also wishes to save face (important in Asian cultures) by having something with which to bargan (like the jailed women reporters, the development of nuclear weapons, etc., in order to negotiate a deal for easing sanctions without actually looking as if he or his people need these sanctions eased. That is no "axis of evil", and our talking softly with a mighty big stick for backup (albeit not mentioned openly) is a better approach in my opinion.

Once congress got infected by all those democrats whose only agenda was to rebuild the broken democrat party, President Bush was rendered 'Lame Duck' status. All he could do was sit back and watch as Nancy and Harry took the country apart piece by piece for his last two years in office.

TigersareGods
Maybe it was because he couldn't find Korea in his pop-up picture bible. After all, that is where he got the term, 'axis of evil.'

FlyMan
It was a part of the deal to ensure our troops got paid. Ted Kennedy said if Bush didn't let them off his so called list, then Kennedy would start a filibuster of the bill that paid the troops. Bush cares more for our troops than his personal dignity.
