Today's Discussion

Did I get a good deal on these used Callaway golf clubs?
I bought a used set of Callaway golf clubs at an on-line auction. Clubs were said to be in very good condition. Here's what I got: Irons are Callaway X-16 Steel Head. Included in set are 10 clubs, 3 thru lob wedge. All serial numbers match. All irons have new Golf Pride Grips. All Clubs are right handed, steel shaft, lie angle 2 degree upright, and standard length. Shafts are Dynamic gold steel shafts, Stiff flex. Drivers are Callaway ERC Fusion. Included are Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, and 7 wood. All include head covers. Driver has 9 degrees loft. All clubs have lamkin grips, are right handed,. Shafts are RCH System 55 Firm Graphite shafts, Stiff flex. Also included is the black Callaway Big Bertha Cart bag. With shipping I paid $480. Is this a good deal?

I think you got a very good deal. Congratulations! Scott

The irons alone would have cost you almost double what you paid new. The driver new, about what you paid + you got 3 quality woods. I would think you got a terrific deal.

According to PGA.com blue book value guide: X-16s $192.82 X-16 Lob wedge $38.10 ERC Fusion driver $38.90 ERC Fusion Fairways $29.36 x 3 Total current value (without the bag) $357.90 The guide does not list bags. The most important question is how do you hit your new clubs and do you like them? If you hit them well and really like them then they are a great value. If you paid $50.00 for the set and you hate them, then you overpaid.

Excellent deal. The irons alone new were probably about $900. Good for you. Somebody could easily have paid $2000 for it all when it was new.

I think it's ok, the clubs u got is probably 4 year old model. But If they are good condition they are still cheap. Just so u know a lot of golf shop wouldn't let u trade in the old model club. Global Golf trade in value Callaway X-16 $115.00 Callaway ERC Fusion driver $25 Callaway ERC Fusion fairway $30*3=90 2 wedge $20 *2=40 You can get $270 if trade them in now.

Sure does look like you got a good deal. I am not a big fan of Callaway but they are very good clubs. The bottomline is: What do they do for you ? Do you play better ? did you need a 2 degree upright? did you need stiff shafts? 9 degree driver is pretty sporty but again if you hit it well what else matters.....$480 for a full set of quality including bag..........

Your deal seems to be good, price depends on quality, and demand. The 2 degree upright and the shaft specs is something most people don't necessarily need. I don't know if this was something you planned but the degrees and shafts might not suit your play if so, bad deal. There is many eye popping crazy deals but when you look closely things like this happen. But If you are satisfied with the clubs that's a good deal mentally But physically If you tried hard enough you "May" have been able to find newer clubs for the same price. A better idea would be next time your on the market post the question BEFORE buying

yes. with the Original shafts. uni flex, ballooning ball flight fairly good deal. with the dynamic gold shafts. minimum cost to owner for shafts installed additional 150 plus. the bag free the 7 wood free. the 5 wood free. just curious about the 2 degree upright lie angle. may need lie adjustment . see how they work . great great deal. well done. few anxious moments i imagine. at this time of the tear fantastic. well done.
