How much cereal/baby food do you use with formula?
My son will be starting cereal and baby food soon how much do you feed your baby along with formula? Thanks!

My son was born 9 pound 10 oz so he i a big boy... a normal 8oz bottle requires 4 scoops of formula (1 for every 2 oz) so I put 2 scoops of formula and 2 scoops of cereal (rice) and mix it up. It depends tho cuz different babies like different textures. You just have to find the right combination for your baby. Now my son is almost 7 months old and weighs 25 pounds. I only put the cereal in with the formula in the mornings and before bed... throughout the day he eats regular formula and babyfood. (I wasnt really to fond of baby cereal ro begin with)

At first make it VERY thin. Honestly, I never measure how much cereal, I just mix it until it is the right consistency. For his first try it needs to be only slightly thicker than the formula itself. Very liquidy so it rolls off the spoon. EDIT: How much really depends upon his age and level of hunger. My daughter would generally eat 2oz of liquid (I used breastmilk) mixed with cereal for a meal by time she was 7-8 months old.

i was told when you start with rie cereal not to put in in a bottle because they need to learn how to eat their food not drink it. but what i did is when i started out i made the rice cereal very thin so my daughter could learn how to swallow it since its not liquid. just make like a 2oz bottle of formula and add it to like 2 tbls of cereal in a bowl until its thin... kinda like soup but not too soupy. after i would feed her that i would give her a 4oz bottle of formula. they eat until they are full so he might or might not drink the whole bottle. and then after time when he gets used to eating start to make it thicker. good luck

I make my daughter's food (except for the cereal and jars of unsweetened applesauce... which I buy). When we started solids at 5 months, I gave her the equivalent of about 1 jar a day. By 7 months we started doing the equivalent of 2 jars a day, which is still where we're at. I feed her cereal fruit mixture in the morning and veggies or meats in the evening.
