Strictly taken, you need to define the question that was asked to you in a better way. First of all, take the definition of artwork. We might consider it art, but for them it may be something that has a clear purpose and meaning. Now, a nice starting point would be to differentiate between the cultures by dividing them geographically and historically. Fra Beato Angelico used to pray for his paintings he made, Eastern Orthodox Christians treat icons as persons, in the process of creation of the artwork there must be some sort of crux point where it changes from an accumulation of materials into art. Another interesting example would be the aboriginal population of Australia. They sang and dreamed the world into existence.

The Islamic community is one, even christianity. Renaissance is not a culture it is a time period. Look up different religious cultures on google and you will find it quite easy as i have done this before :) There are loads of videos and websites on there. Religions are the most obvious and easiest cultures to look at because they have traditions, ceremonies and rituals and almost all religions have art work dedicated to their God/gods :)
