Today's Discussion

Should I buy a OEM heater core or just get a cheap auto part store one?
I have a 1989 Blazer with a busted heater core, about a gallon a week leaks into the passengers side floor. Should I buy a genuine AC Delco heater core for $50 or just get a cheap ready aire, or a 4 seasons one from the auto part store for $20. Taking the entire dash out is not fun so I only want to do it once. What one should I get?

Buy the one from the auto parts store if you can actually get one for $20.

Check the guarantee at the auto parts stores. Don't get one that doesn't have a lifetime guarantee. Unless you are planning on selling your car in the near future. I would stay away from the $20 heater core. Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would go through NAPA.

if i have to do all that work i want a good 1 to put back in. i would,nt want to go through that again to change it so get the best 1 you can. that way you are sure of it once the dash is back together.

First Drive: 2013 Porsche Boxster S
Jalopnik
The new 2013 Porsche Boxster is an absolutely terrific car to drive. This sort of pains me to say, as even with a starting price of $49500 ($60900 for the S, which is the one I drove) I'm likely going to have to wait until some long lost uncle's helper ...
