Today's Discussion

Do you think a 17 month old would enjoy a children's museum?
I think my daughter is too young for this but a few people have suggested to me that a great place to take toddlers to is a children's museum. There is also this toddler show on foxtel and they said the same thing. I have just had a look on the internet and the only children's museum here in melbourne is the childrens section at the Melbourne museum which is aimed at 3-8 year olds. I just was wondering whether any of you guys had taken your children to a children's museum at around this age and whether they enjoyed it.

I don't think that that she would actually be interested in the items in display. But probably more fascinated watching people and just with what's going on around her. Either one, I think she'd enjoy it if she likes going out. My kids like going out to anything.

Dunno, the best thing would be to try it, I guess. But if the museum states that it is aimed for aimed at 3-8 year olds then perhaps your daughter is too young. It depends on how much touchy feely stuff there is to do. I'd be more inclined to get her a massive cardboard box to play with instead!

I took my (then) 18mth old and 31/2yo to the Andy Warhol exhibition in Brisbane - they had a blast. Just don't expect them to be interested in the things you think they'll be interested in.....

Just do it! Kids love stimulation. However, I wouldnt do anything expensive until 5th birthday, or later.
