Classical guitar?
I want to learn how to play the classical guitar. Does anyone recommend a good acoustic classical guitar for a begginer? I'm not into playing rock guitar or pop music, but maybe some jazz. It can't be too expensive because this is for when I'm not practicing my main instrument, which I practice a lot. I know i still need to take lessons to learn techniques.

You should be able to find some quality guitars for a fair price at www.MusiciansFriend.com. I have bought things from them before and I find them very reasonable with their prices. However, despite their great prices they do carry top quality items. Good luck!

Classical guitars are very much more expensive than other guitars, mainly because classical is not as popular. Most people who buy classical guitars are more dedicated to their music and thus, demand more quality. Buying on sites like Musiciansfriend.com will give you some good quality guitars, but not as wide a pool to choose from. They do have good beginner/intermediate instruments, though. Most teachers are familiar with a specific brand that they have found to work very well, and can possibly get you a discount price. If you don't want to ask, then look on the Internet for other makers. Stay off the main music sites and look for private companies. One rule of thumb with classical guitars is DO NOT BUY A GUITAR YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED BEFORE!!!!! even if it is the same model as another guitar you have played. No two guitars are the same, especially acoustic guitars. Good Luck and have fun playing!

Find a good classical guitar instructor in your area and tell him what you are looking for. Most teachers have students that for whatever reason upgrade their guitars periodically, and an active instructor usually has a few students with good guitars for sale. The biggest advantage to this approach is that the instructor can probably "fit" you to an instrument, do his pupils a favor, and assure you of an instrument in good condition that is properly set up. Good luck!
