How do you desguise a tabacco pipe as a clay art project?
I'm currently about to make an art project using clay, and we are going to fire it in the kiln... I wanted to make a tobacco pipe for my grandfather but supposedly that's wrong, anyway I figured my grandfather would enjoy one non the less if it was disguised as something, do you guys have any ideas on how I can make a tobacco pipe out of a clay project what should I make, I need help

it take many years of practice and skill and training to make a good tobacco pipe.. plus the right materials.. may not even be usable.. maybe you should think of something else

make the areas that are supposed to have holes real thin, then punch them out when you take it home. Then stop lying on yahoo answers about the bowl you made in art class.

Make a Native American pipe and tell them it's a culturally educational experience.

From experience clay pipes make for very harsh smoking. So as good as your idea seems, you may want to rethink it.

If you're not experienced in ceramics you're not going to be able to make anything that can be used as a pipe. The clay isn't just you mold and bake. You have to ensure that the clay is thick enough, you have to ensure that there are NO air pockets (otherwise your peice will just explode in the kiln). If you wanna make a pipe in your art class just get over it.lol Go smoke out of a pop can. You need nothing to smoke with a pop can and how inconspicuous is a pop can? Seriously you just use the tab and break it to poke a hole in the side and viola. You're done.lol That's WAY easier then learning the mechanics to making a bowl in art class. Not to mention some glazes aren't safe to smoke with. I think it's safe to assume the glazes that are provided by your school aren't safe to smoke with. I think it's best if you just forget about the idea.

I have several old clay pipes which I found as a child at my grandmas farm while digging in the garden....all pipes at on e time used to be made of clay...some are plain and other are very decorative...they are very beautiful
