Co-Sleepers?
I'm not sure I really "get" the whole co-sleeper thing. Now, do they attach to your bed in some way? Are they really that wonderful like everyone says... I would think the transition for the baby to move into a crib would be really hard after sleeping next to us... oh, and with all that talk about no bumpers because of SIDS and stuff, which I'm really scared about, those co-sleepers have cloth sides, no breathing at all! What about that? oh, to answer 1, I'm expecting, sorry, i dont have the baby yet. :)

how old is your baby if more than a year old i think it would be time to convert to a crib in another room. if not then try a portable crib on wheels that way you can just pull the baby out of their room while they are sleeping in to your room up against your bed that way you can all sleep together. one happy family.

They do attach to the bed. I think they were wonderful and lifesaving in the early days of having twins. Think about it, does any other animal in nature put their child away from them to sleep? It only makes sense that we would keep our newborn baby with us. As for it taking a while to get the baby into the crib, don't worry, you won't want to have them in another room for a couple of years after you've felt the closeness and convenience of cosleeping. good luck.

I let my daughter sleep in our room in a playpen and then she migrated to the bed. I tried making her stay in her crib and she learned to crawl out very early. Over the years she has been a terrible sleeper and still sometimes comes into our room and tries to get into our bed and she is 10 years old! If I have any more children I will only keep them in our room for a month and that is it. After that into their own room! Been there and made that mistake.

Honestly, I have a 5 month old daughter we had her sleep in our bed until she was 4 months. I wouldn't recommend having her sleep in your bed it's really hard to break the habit for you and your child. I would recommend if you want your baby in your room, putting him/her in a basset net or put their crib in your room. Do Not put him/her in your bed it is a bad habit I had problems with it. I hope this helps!

The co-sleeper does attach to your bed very securely so it doesn't scoot away. I have one and I love it. I used it for the first month, then he started sleeping with us because he nursed and still nurses so much at night. I love him sleeping with us! I still have the co-sleeper attached to the bed now even though he's 8 months. It's a good place to store pillows, a safe place for him to roll off into, and the cats like it. I don't see a problem with the cloth sides because it's very tight padding unlink crib bumpers that are often very plush and can detach. You can also sidecar a crib. If I would have know that I would have probably done that instead. This is a good explanation of sidecaring a crib. Congrats on your upcoming birth!
