What code reader is needed to connect to a 1998 renault clio?
My car has recently come to a stand still so i thought i would invest a code reader, i happend to have a friend that had one so i borrowed it (eobd2), i tried to connect it to the plug in my car and the reader took no connection (this was stated on the code reader) Is anyone aware of what model of code reader is needed to connect to the renault clio? Many Thanks

You have a choice of some readers below, according to your planned budget. Try avoiding the readers which have only one or limited functions if possible, like code reading only. With just a few more bucks you can have a decent to professional one which will pay back their expenditure when you save your hard earned from auto repair bills. My advice is to find one that reads the generic codes, preferably with some specific manufacturer codes too, can view live performance data with freeze frame function and obviously reset the codes too. Another good option (but not required - just makes life easier for you) is if the DTC (Display Trouble Codes) will no only list these codes but will also give you a definitions of the code itself, instead of looking it up manually on a cd, or finding it through a supplied list which usually comes with your scanner. Below are are a few choices I recommend: (1) Professional OBDII + EOBD Code Reader and Scanner - about $101.00 (2) Autel MaxiScan MS509 OBD-II/EOBD Scanner - approximately $100 (3) MaxiScan MS310 OBDII/EOBD Code Reader - just slightly more than $50 You can buy them directly from the source URL below. Copy each of the above scanner/reader names in the shopping bar's search URL. This will help you by giving a detailed description of the product and its functions. Compare these specs with your needs and spending budget and find the best deal. Always decide on buying one with the best and most applications possible, so you will not need to purchase another one in the near future, just because of its limitations. Hope this helps and good luck with your engine repair.
