I like my coffee in the morning, in my car, and latte style with flavored syrup, usually vanilla. YUMMY! Good luck with the coffee shop. I'd go but I don't live anywhere near you.

make sure you have lots of flavored syrups - go with monin brand; also stock some good teas as well 21/2 scoops of ice cream in a glass w/ 2 shots espresso is a very good treat makes sure you have lots of 'swag', (packs of nuts, fine chocolate bars, bags of coffee, ect) thats where you can make some exptra dough

Syrups will give you more flavor customization options than flavored beans or creamers. You definitely want to be open very early in the morning to catch the 3rd shifters trying to stay awake long enough to get home and the 1st shifters trying to wake up enough to go to work. =) I love coffee, but I never go to coffee shops. I drink my coffee very strong and retail coffee tastes like brown water to me. May I suggest offering one "extra strength" option for people like me? Just my 2 cents worth. Best of luck with your new business!!!

I persoanlyl like "torani" for the brand of syrups to use. Have a medium amount of flavor for selection. You want your customers to have a good choice but not be dazed by all the options. There is a coffee shop that just opened near me that has only about 15 flavors...not quit enough. Get some mugs printed up with your logo on them, and do 1/2 price if they bring your mug in to be filled. Also have a good plain old house coffe then a special roast of the day i.e. brazillian, or arabian etc... Good luck

Good Luck with your new venture. Coffee is interesting because there are some people who crave it all day just becuase. They see a dunkin donuts and they pull into the drive thru. Other people .. it's a morning routine. They stop off at a nice boutique style place and buy a $6 latte and a $3 pastry. Nice if you can get customers from both niches and say busy all day.. Never overlook any customer, especially kids.. So become a wi-fi hotspot..Have coffee tastings and learn to make wicked pastrys, chocolates and stuff. And don't neglect tea... there's a huge market for flavored teas.. just look at how many kinds of teas celestial seasonings has.. Good Luck And not to sound sexist or brain-dead, but hiring a pretty girl won't hurt your business.. You will be surprised how much more repeat-business you get when there is a pleasant, cute girl working somewhere.
