COLT 1911..............?
I am thinking about buying a Colt 1911 and i am wondering if anyone has any advice on what model i should get. And i am wondering how expensive 45 ammo is compared to 9 mils and 40s. i have heard a few people say 45 ammo is cheaper because it is more common. that true?

Get the one that fits you. Springfield Armory makes a good 1911 for less money and many others do as well. 45 is a little more than 9mm cause more components, weight etc. 1911 is a fine gun.

* Colt Combat Commander * Get one.* New or used.* If you can't afford the Colt then get the Charles Daly Full size Field Model EFS.* It has many features you will pay a lot more $$$ for on other Brands.* It has a Fantastic trigger pull, and extremely accurate.* Check one out asap.*... { $ 419.00 Dollars }...There are two of them available here in our local gun shop, brand new.*

Kimber makes a good 1911 but it has a big price tag. Springfield also makes a good one at a cheaper price . The price of ammo is getting high on all calibers if you are not planing on shooting ever week then buy any caliber you want but if you want to shoot a lot buy a 22cal target gun you will save a lot of money if you shoot a lot.

Many manufacturers produce a great 1911. If you are on a budget, like many of us are, you may want to consider Rock River. I have read nothing by great things about these 1911's. Springfield also makes a great 1911 at a lower cost. 9mm ammo is about half the cost of .45. I just bought both at Walmart.

1 best 1911s Kimber Les Baer springfield colt ruger go to gunsamerica.com to compare Ammo...45 ,,9mm 357/38 are all common and similar priced...if cost is a problem buy a ruger 22 and shoot cheap.

9mm is cheaper. 45 ammo is difficult to find right now. That said- ?? why a 1911?? Do you just "like" that style of gun? There are many far better pistols on the market now besides the old 1911 technology. The 1911's are expensive ( I don't know why?). Why not look at a modern polymer frame pistol that will hold -say 12 rounds and has a de--cocker, and is da/sa. I have a 1911 Springfield. Its a good gun (about $650), but I would much rather carry, shoot, handle my Taurus PT-845 ($500). My 1911 weighs 48 oz with 7 rounds in it. My 845 weighs about 32 oz with 12 +1 rounds in it. Taurus is an inexpensive pistol.....and there are many more...far better than the 1911...Sig, H&K, even S&W's M&P. If its 45 acp you really like- then look around a bit. There is a lot to see. But if its 1911 you like....then that the only thing that will satisfy you. Colts are nice.
