One of the most common complaints among personal computer users is the gradual loss of speed that occurs affecting the start up and running of programs.

There are several common issues that can cause a computer to run slowly and "freeze up" that can be easily fixed with the programs that already installed on your computer as well as many free programs that can be downloaded on the internet.

One of the most common causes occurs when browsing the internet and is the unintentional acquiring of spyware, adware, malware, Trojans, and malicious executable files, that cause your computer to run slowly as well as pose a security threat to your personal information.

These programs can be eliminated with various free software programs that are designed to scan your computer, detect these files, and eliminate them. Another common problem that will cause your computer to run slowly is corrupted files in the Windows system registry.

These can also be repaired quickly with diagnostic software programs. One of the most common problems that cause a computer to start up slowly is too many desktop icons. There should be no more than twenty icons visible on your desktop.

Desktop icons can easily be removed by right clicking on them with your mouse and deleting them or left clicking and dragging them into designated folders. Disk Cleaner and Disk Defragmenter are two Windows programs that can be accessed through "My Computer" and should be used regularly to save space and speed up your hard drive.

Your browsing history and cookies should also be cleared regularly to speed up internet browsing as well as protect your personal information. If you would like more details on how you can optimize your PC and perform your own computer diagnostics, please visit us!

Computer Diagnostics?
Is there any good free program that I can download and put on a CD (so a .iso file) that will run diagnostics on a computer without booting an operating system (XP, Vista, etc.)? I already have the Ultimate Boot CD (), and I am looking for more! I want something that can check file systems (NTFS), check hardware (RAM, Processor, Hard Drives, etc.), and is not hardware specific (not just for Dell, HP, Seagate, etc.) Thanks!

I use Windows PE (www.windowspe.com). It is a system based on the Vista kernel, but only shows a commandline box (which runs in the gui). Although by itself its pretty useless for diagnostics, you can add many Windows-based diagnostic programs to the image, allowing you to customize it to your needs. It can be burned to CD or DVD and can be used to boot your computer.
