Is Engine control unit and electronic power steering control unit two different things?
If yes then where are these two located in honda city...Is engine control unit is not properly configured then does the car gives poor mileage and knocks/ping?

They are separate. Normally you "configure" by replacing the EPROM integrated circuit. A factory OEM version is recommended. If the engine pings, suspect overheating. Sometimes you need to bleed the air that's trapped in the top of the engine - look for a bleed screw near the thermostat.

If your motor pings use higher octane gasoline. If it knocks repair the motor. The two control units are separate.
