What to Look for in a Cuisinart Can Opener
A Cuisinart can opener is a necessary appliance for any well-equipped kitchen. Generally speaking, there are two types of appliances that you might find in the kitchen: the helpful and the indispensible.
While appliances like cappuccino makers and toaster ovens are indeed helpful, they certainly aren’t necessary. A can opener, on the other hand, is just about as important as a knife or a fork.
Still, many people take these important appliances for granted and assume that every model is more or less the same. We are not talking about space age features here; we’re talking about basic design.
What should you look for? When it comes to electric can openers, probably the most common design flaw is that the opener is too short to accommodate tall cans. Therefore, you should look for an opener that is large, or tall enough to open any can.
It is also important that the operation of the device be smooth and quite. Many openers are quite loud and slow. It is also a fact that many cheaper openers have dull or thin blades, which means that you may have to make a few rotations before the opener actually removes the lid.
Lastly, modern openers are commonly available in either plastic or metal versions. Though the plastic will undoubtedly be cheaper, the metal will last longer and will often make for a better overall opener.
A Cuisinart can opener, for example, is a top of the line brand and most of their openers are metal and include warranties that cover the motor and the blade.
