Today's Discussion

Does having kids ruin creativity especially when your art is dark and non family oriented?
I love dark art and majority of my work is horror oriented sometime bizarre. I'm not sure if I want kids but I thought about it here and there. I keep thinking is my home a great place to raise a child. I think people generalize when it comes to raising a child. If it's my child I'll raise them they way I WANT. I just thought I was too weird to be a mother. What do you think?

I don't know. There's dark and bizarre, and there's dark and bizarre, Weird is subjective too. There is also a limit of what is socially permitted in child-rearing. After all, they took the kids away from those people who named their kids Nazi names like Adolf Hitler (there was more to it than that, but the whole story hasn't come out). You could consider getting a studio for your artwork (either somewhere in your house you can lock up, or rent someplace entirely different). In the meantime, create whatever artwork you want, and don't have children until you really know you want them and have a clear idea of what would be the best way to raise them. You might get a nice copy of some unedited Grimm's Fairy Tales. A lot of people not familiar with what's actually in them, might be quite horrified. The version of Cinderella for example has the stepsisters carving off bits of their feet to fit into the tiny slipper. There's also incest, cannibalism, anti-semitism, and even more lovely themes for bedtime. You can read them online at the link below. They may inspire you.
