The Highway Loss Data Institute ranks cars based on there real-world insurance claim histories. It rates the del Sol at 106 for injury claims, or just about average for safety compared to other 1993 cars (100 is average). Honestly, this surprised me, considering it's such a small car. However, it's still a 1993 car. New cars benefit from 15 years of safety research. The Fit isn't old enough to get a real-world rating, but it does rank as one of the better small cars in crash testing. Honda doesn't make anything like the del Sol today. However, you can start saving up for the CR-Z which will debut in the fall of next year. It's more akin to a CR-X than a del Sol, but take a look at the second and third links below.
