Today's Discussion

Digital video?
Is it possible to rotate a digital video file taken with a digital camera 90 degrees from portrait to landscape so that it can be viewed without standing the TV on it's side.

it will cost you. need to feed it in to your harddrive and work on with one of several software packages. too expensive for my blood. check at adobe. they are the best but not the cheapest. i have never done it. just read about it. cannot do it without software. would be a big project to correct one small segment. i just cannot understand why you recorded on its dang side?????????

VirtualDub can do this along with lots of other video effects. The program is free. It's not the most intuitive program, but it is very capable once you figure out how it works. It also has a wonderful scrubber (allows you to manually preview your video) and single step features. Avisynth is another program that will do rotations, but it is script based and even unfriendlier if you aren't used to scripting. VirtualDub relies on codecs installed on your machine. You will most likely need an MJPEG codec which might have been installed with your camera software. If not, there are free MJPEG codecs you can install.
