Today's Discussion

How do you warm breastmilk for the Playtex Drop Ins bottles?
I am interested in buying them for my baby and was wondering if the milk can be warmed in the plastic drop in piece or if it has to be warmed and then poured in. Thanks.

just put it in warm water of run the water from the sink over it. It doean't have to be warm before you put it in. Either way.

I just pour the milk into a bowl and microwave it. They say not to, because it makes hot spots in the milk, but as long as you mix it, like when you mix foods, to make the temo even, it is ok.

you cannot microwave breastmilk. Gradually warm breastmilk and adding hotter water. It only takes a few minutes to do it. Put the bag in warm water and it's good to go.

microwaving breastmilk kills nutrients!.. Warm by running under hot water

I pour it in the plastic drop and put it in warm water for a while. Shake well.

Well i use them and i just put hot water in a coffee cup and put the drop in into it( with milk in the drop in) it heats up farely fast.

The best method I found for reheating it was simple. Pour the milk into the bottle. Set the bottle in a larger cup full of warm-hot water from the sink. Let it sit for a bit, it the milk isn't warm enough, do it again.. SHould be ready in about 5 min. If the milk is frozen take the bag it was frozen in, take the bag and sit it in the cup of warm water. Once defrosted, then dump out the water and repeat. You can use the drop in piece. It works the same. They are awesome!

I used to have milk storage bags that I would pump into and freeze or refrigerate. I would warm the bag in a bowl of warm water first and then pour it into the drop ins. If I had to reheat milk already in the bottle, I would put the bottle in a tall glass of warm water up to the nipple. I found it easier to warm the milk in the bag first though; otherwise being in the warm water heated the bottle more than the milk in the liner and made it take longer. Also, it's not recommended to reheat in the microwave because it could cause hot spots in the milk and the liner isn't meant to withstand being in the microwave. They're excellent bottles though; they really reduce gas and spitting up.
