Today's Discussion

Which novel should I continue?
I am only 15, and even though I may be quite young, i am working on a novel, or more like 4 ones. The trouble is, I can't find enough time to continue all of them, so I have to pick one that I will work on the most and publish eventually. Which should I choose? The synopsis of the novels are here: 1. The Northland Chronicles Book 1: Neorite: A day after moving into his new house, Ethan Nickolas Brooks gets woken up in the middle of the night by a mysterious green creature, who leads him into the magical world of the Norhtlands, where he finds out that he must follow the footsteps of his great-grandfather who was the arcane knight of frost, in order to overthrow the phony tyrant who locked away his own daughter in a mysterious dungeon in the Great Canyon. Becoming the apprentice of Marx, the oldest and most powerful arcane user in the Northlands, he embarks on a journey along with his friends Varo Taraki, the lord of dragons and apprentice to master assassin Hunter Lynx, and Martella Tyara, a young seeres who is the apprentice of the druid Milo Grym, in order to stop the tyrant king from unleashing unavoidable chaos onto the land. 2. The Legends of Rune: Shadow mancer: 14 year old Varis Athros finally made it into the Rune Academy, the most high class magic school in Avronas, and his life seems to be perfect, until one day while he attends a special training course with the dragon Grimmfang, the school gets destroyed by a maniac who attempts to wipe out the 10 sages who are meant to protect the ten elemental worlds. As he journeys with his best friend Damien Myst the Streeog and Grimmfang, he find out more about his past and that he is the sage of shadows. He must locate the other 10 sages and face the sorcerers of darkness before the worlds collide and destroy the sacred realm, destroying existence itself. 3. The Grimm profiles: Grimm Reaper, the son of Death Reaper, has a bright future as the future ruler of the underworld. One day, however, rumors start to spread that Lord Death had kidnapped a living human being and locked her up in a dungeon, and once the rumors start, Grimms father starts acting more and more violent each day, nearly killing Grimm's sister, Clarrise Reaper. Escaping from his father, Grimm meets the young Bountyhunter Dusk Woods, the girl who his father had kidnapped, and runs away with her. On a journey to return Dusk to the land of the living and to find out what happened to his father, Grimm finds out that his problems have increased: His sister became ill which is impossible for a dead person. 4. The Clockwork Saga: Lanterns: Gear Sterling lives as an orphaned beggar in the bronze city of Hasvor, an ordinary town with an enormous Clock tower in it's center which had been there since the beginning of time. Ever since he was young, Gear was extremely good at physics and mechanics, surviving of the money he earned from selling wind up toys taht he made using the scraps of the smithy. As his 15th birthday approaches, Gear feels himself drawn to the tower as a mysterious voice seems to be calling him towards it. After having acquainted himself with the noble child Amelia Lite, he tries to find out why the voice is calling him and makes and interesting and dangerous discovery involving his past which he had forgotten. So which do you think is best? Please tell me why!

Pick the one that interests you most. It's not likely your first novel will be publishable. But that's OK. It's practice. You wouldn't expect to win an Olympic gold medal the first time out, so you shouldn't expect to write a great novel, either. After you finish it, look to see what you got wrong. Find every part that's bad (if you can't find something bad, then you'll never succeed), then fix it. Edit it rigorously to remove any words that don't belong. Rewrite your favorite section to make it better. Keep rewriting until you're done. Then go work on another. Repeat the process and you'll learn how to write.

The Grimm Profiles interests me the most, but I also like the sound of The Clockwork Saga: Lanterns. The first two I, personally, wouldn't pick up in a bookstore and read, but that is just me. My advice to you is to pick one of the second two, HOWEVER, that is just my personal preferences, and all avid readers have different genre preferences. Pick the novel that you like the most, the one you want to and can continue till the end, and go with that one. Save the other novels for later on in life to complete, don't give up on anything you write, it can become big. Hope this helps. - Letha x

Oh look, now there's some kaleidoscope stuff! Hey, a toy reindeer just said “Your pain is boring.” Tell that to my 300 Livejournal friends, fool-ass doe. It's over already? Well, lo-fi pop songs tend not to have the length of prog-rock druid epics.
