Today's Discussion

wall air conditioners versus mini ductless air conditioners?
So which is better the wall/window air conditioners or the mini duct split system air conditioners? Reason asking is about to get a mini ductless system for a trailer I have. The window/wall air conditioner here seems to last a year to 3 at max and gotta replace them cause its more expensive to have them fixed and aren't easy cleaned especially on 2 ton units. Well Im 90 miles from Houston lol and I agree they are hard to seal the wall/window units and some times need the hole cute bigger or packed in smaller for different sizes. I have never know a wall unit to last 10 yrs barely 5

The ductless systems are generally very good... however often the window/wall units pack more BTU power for their size. I prefer the ductless because it's less intrusive and is much easier to decorate around. A window unit will ruin a view out the window, and you can rarely seal them properly - so they are often less-efficient. Ductless systems are built (for the most part) by companies that don't ship it all off to China, like the cheap window units. However, they will cost more. You get what you pay for. Keep cool!

Window is cheaper to replace. They should last 10 to 20 years if kept clean(at least once every 6 mo.s.) and that's in Houston.
