Is is possible to use a small electric air compressor (used to fill a car tire) to power a pneumatic cylinder?
Is is possible to use a small electric air compressor (used to fill a car tire) to power a very small pneumatic cylinder? The air compressor can go up to 230 psi. it is made for filling up a car tire or like soccer ball, football and bike tires. i just need to know if it is at all possible for me to power a small pneumatic cylinder with it. Thanks!

Depending on the air volume requirements of the cylinder, you many be able to do so. You may need to add a holding tank the increase the short term volume capacity

If The PSI On The Cylinder Needs More Than 230 PSI it may not move it like you want it to.

what is the cylinder going to power? if you just want operate it, than you might see it move, but if it is going to work under a load then i'd say no. you may need to get a hold of a compressor that has a working psi that meets the requirements of your cylinder. i know a small compressor like you are talking about will not operate a pneumatic screw driver or nail gun.
