No, many of the craftsman digital multimeters will give you hertz in a numerical digital readout. I picked one up the other day just to keep in the truck. They had them on sale at Sears that week for less than $20. I think this is a link to the one I got. Oh, and I checked - the hertz readout by measuring the A/C hertz at a receptacle here in the house - got 60hz. guess it works.
