Can a industrial Air Compressor be used for Dentistry practice?
My wife is a dental student and needs to practice her work on a mannikin with acrylic teeth. She needs a air compressor for her tools. Dental air compressors are comparatively expensive and she will practice only on artificial teeth and not on a person. Is it possible to use the normal compressors (eg. Extreme Challenge air compressor from Argos or many other generic air compressors) for practice...it would be great if someone has done something like this before and can guide..!! Thanks

Yes you can. Both compressors are exactly the same it just that the "dental" compressors are covered under the maintainance agreement a practice has with an engineer. Dental practices regularly get broken into coz of the compressor.

There are many different types of air compressors out there. The more portable ones are only going to have a capacity of a few gallons. If you are running 1-2 guns you will probably be fine. If you are planning on using a lot of pneumatic tools at the same time you might want to step up to a 25 gallon or more. Not as portable, but you can set it up on a jobsite and run multiple lines off it. You can get one of those starting at 250 dollars depending on where you shop. You can get package deals that come with a nailer, but those are portables. I would get a compressor with a direct drive and go oilless. Easier to maintain, if you use it heavily, drain the water out of it daily.
