If your up to it, you will need to get the model number off the motor inside your unit. It is not real easy to replace the motor but you really have to be mechanically inclined to get this done. After getting the spec off of the motor/voltage/speed... I would check on line for ac suppliers... they will price the motors on line matching your description and then you can make up your own mind if you want them to send it to you. At least then you will know the motor prices. With any search engine on the internet will give motor suppliers with prices... The main thing to remember is to remove all power before you get into the unit.

It depends on the size of the house. Lets say you have a 3 bedroom. Your blower motor is probably going to be a 1/3 HP 1050 rpm 3 speed 120 volt motor with red for low speed on gas heat and black for high speed on ac. If you have electric heat then the motor will simply have one speed and will have to be a 220 volt motor The new motor will be a permanent split capacitor type so you will need to buy a capacitor also. I say it would cost about 75 bucks for the motor and 5 bucks for the capacitor if you had a HVAC store near you. These repairmen only pay around 48 dollars dealer price for a motor and 4 bucks for a cap so if they hollar 2 or 3 hundred bucks then they are crooks. If you motor is a flex mount model then them motors can be quite a lot more but you can buy a flex mount bracket way cheaper and use that 75 dollar motor.
