How can I make wooden, real-feathered arrows for a traditional bow?
I have a 58" traditional longbow that can only take real feathered arrows. I have had a lot of trouble finding any for sale and so have decided to make my own. Could someone please give me a complete guide on how to do this, or perhaps where to buy them if they're too expensive. Also how long of arrows do I need?

here you go, How long is based on your draw length, figure 2 inches longer than that.

Most longbow and recurve archers shoot feather fletched arrows. You can find feather fletching at 3RiversArchery.com LancasterArchery.com KustomKingArchery.com RaptorArchery.com LostNationArchery.com TheNockingPoint.com There are also a number of wood arrow builders who have individual sites and who sell on eBay. The best custom arrow builders I know are here: www.RMSGear.com You can feather fletch wood, aluminum or carbon arrows. You can also order any of those shafts with feather fletching. Building arrows to match your bow is both art and science. There are a lot of details and skills to learn. It is fun to experiment and it is very satisfying when you put together an arrow that matches your bow. For safety, the arrow should be 2 inches longer than your draw length. However, the arrow length is one of many factors in matching the arrow to the bow. Other factors are the point weight, the arrow flex (spine) and even the style of feathers that you use. There is a very good tutorial on building arrows here:
