I'm a beginner at playing tennis, help?
Well I am a high schooler and I am going to be doing tennis this year. Sorry if I ask a lot, but I just dont know what to expect. My first practice is this week, so I need some help... 1. I'm taking summer school and tennis practice is afterschool. I need to carry my racquet with me all day at school until practice, but I don't have a case! How/What should I carry it in along with my apparel? 2. I have athletic bermuda shorts and capris, nike sneakers, and some cotton Fila shirts... are those okay to wear? 3. Can somebody explain the lines to me and some basic rules? 4. Any tips on good tennis playing skills? I would really appreciate answers to all or one of the questions above. THANK YOU

I'm happy to hear youre interested in the sport as i've been playing it for many years and love it. I guess i'll just go in order: 1) go to walmart...find where they keep their tennis racquets and there should be a racquet bag as well. the one i'm specifically thinking of is made by Wilson and is under $10. it has space for two racquets, room for some clothing and you could squeeze in some water also. im not going to lie it isn't all that big but it should be sufficient. if you don't want to do this, just use a back pack andput your racquet in with your handle sticking out the top. 2) pretty much with tennis anything goes, at least for men's tennis. usually women, will wear tennis skirts, or shorts when playing tennis both work for holding balls when you get used to them (i think lol). and any odd t-shirt is fine if you don't mind getting sweaty in it. sometimes if you make varsity (i know a little ways down the road) the team will provide clothing. 3) theres a lot of rules...the best thing to do is look here... sorry i'm to lazy to write it all down here, these are the official rules, but if you don't want to read quite as much, i'm sure theres other websites with condensed information. 4) Good technique begins with moving your feet a lot and in small steps (big steps to run to the ball, and small steps to adjust to it when you get close). a good grip for the forehand is the semiwestern grip (lay the racquet of the ground and pick it up naturally, and if this feels bad feel free to change it). most people find the using two hands on their backhand is easier but thats also up to you. just make sure to get to the ball as quick as you can and try to hit it a little in front of you, because if you let the ball start to pass you it becomes a lot harder. anyways you should just try to have fun, and enjoy it. hope this helps :)
