Good Pay, Good Benefits, Good Pension. BUT stay away from Fairhaven, MA fire department. In that town the fire excuse of a chief was standing inside of a McDonald's while it was burning, got his order and went home. The place burnt down.

I took the FDNY test, did'nt pass high enough, glad too, or I might have been involved in 9/11. Collapse is the biggest danger in a fire as far as I'm concerned, way too dangerous. Thank God that we have brave people who risk their lives, to save ours !!!!! Paid or not, Firemen are always there for us when we hit the "PANIC" button, no matter what the conditions, THEY ALWAYS SHOW UP 24/7 ! just dial "911"
