Ford diesel?
a friend of mybe recently told me the ford is going to start using cummins in 2009 or 2010 and dodge will start to use benz motors is the true

ive heard nothing to this, but am curious also. it would take alot for dodge to give up the cummins line, and let ford have it.

Your friend is incredibly misinformed. Ford's next diesel will be an in-house V8 diesel (I believe stated to be 6.7L), and Dodge no longer has any ties with Mercedes whatsoever, so there's no way they would be using any Benzo diesel. Plus, I think Dodge will hang on to their Cummins contract no matter what.

rumor has it that ford owns the cummins so ford should is start using it they would sell more trucks that way

This rumor comes up every few years and has been circulating ever since Dodge started using the Cummins engine. The rumor also keeps coming up because at one time Ford did own less than 5% of Cummins stock. Cummins has long since bought back all of the stock that Ford owned. A simple internet search will reveal this. Ford never at any time owned more than 5% of Cummins stock. The rumor is also perpetuated as the Cummins is a very good engine and has an excellent track record, something that can not be said of the 6.0 and 6.4 diesels that Ford uses. For many years in the F650 and F750 truck line, the Ford Powerstroke, whether the 7.3 or 6.0 liter engines, were the base engine. The upgrade engine for these trucks was the 5.9 liter Cummins with the upgrade from that being a 7.2 liter CAT engine. Currently the F650 and F750 aren't even available with any model of the Powerstroke thats available in the F550 and under. The base engine is now the 6.7 liter Cummins, the same engine in Dodge trucks and the 7.2 liter CAT engine. Also you always hear of people wanting to swap a Cummins into a Ford or Chevy. In fact there are a few companies around that are in business simply to make this swap possible. There are hundreds of Fords and Chevys on the road with a 5.9 Cummins in them. Look up a Ford Crew Cab truck on youtube, the guys nickname is Maddog. His truck has a 5.9 Cummins and has over 1000hp, is a daily driver/tow vehicle and racer. On the contrary though you never hear of anyone swapping any model Powerstroke into a Dodge or Chevy. Same thing with a Duramax, you never hear of anyone swapping one into a Ford or Dodge. I do not know of one single swap where either of these engines have been swapped into any other truck. There have been some Duramaxes put into sports cars and other Chevy trucks but I dont know of any put into a Dodge or Ford.
