help!! I accidently dropped a bolt in my Ford intake manifold and can't get it out.?
I tried using a magnet, but that darn bolt is hidden and won't jump out. I don't want to take off the manifold!!!!

might have to bleed it.

Then you are up the creek with out a paddle. You are going to have to take the manifold off.

Patrick
You have no option but to take the manifold off and find that bolt. Whatever you do. DONT START THE ENGINE.

use a set of magic fingers... or do you have an electrician friend? or call a random one, heres why: some electricians (using them because of the likelihood) have fiber optic borescopes (fiber optic spy thing like on the movie the rock) and you could possibly use it to take a peek so you know where to grab around at... but i would opt for the magic fingers or magnet... good luck

Take it off --- the alternative will be a new engine....

Hi Saml J, Not to worry. Most auto parts stores carry flex-magnets just for this type of situation. Assuming you're working with an aluminum manifold and not a cast iron. You should be able to exchange different magnets, i.e., stronger one. Got a younger brother or neighbor with small arm/hands? Offer a couple bucks if they can fish it out for you. If you can see the bolt, try flexi-grips with an extension handle, also available at auto parts stores. If you can't see the bolt, tow the car to a Ford dealer and have the mechanic use a flexible scope to find it. Me? I'd purchase a new gasket, some sealer, and remove the manifold. But, if you decide to go that route, don't forget to torque to the proper footpound specs! Hope this helps. -Jeeem-

I did the same thing! LOl, On my windstar! I had to get a longer thinner strong magnet. U have to buy those antenna type magnets.

yes get a flex magnet similar like this one first thing to try if bolt is very small may end up in head between valve and even get inside cyl do damage then no choice intake got to come off cost of intake gasket cheaper then repairing damage that bolt can do agree whit guy in here magnet no result then intake off

Either fish around with that magnet some more, or take the manifold off. You are up s**t creek without a paddle... and your cell phone just died... DON'T START IT!!!
