will a ford cold air intake in my 2008 mustang void my warranty?
I want to buy the ford CAI online and install the intake myself. Also, will this be harmful to my engine in the long run?

No. Modifying your car will in no way void the warranty UNLESS adding that modification directly caused the vehicle to receive damage. The intake would have to directly cause a problem with your engine. Say you bought a high performance K&N oil filter and it wasnt passing oil fast enough and your engine blew. Because that filter wasnt pushing oil like it should your stealership would not be able to fix it under warranty because an aftermarket filter that was not recommended by Ford would have caused the problem. Ergo if you wanted it fixed you would have to pay out the ass. However to prove it there would have to be a full investigation and a full legal decision, which could turn into a court case. If you install it properly it will not cause you any problems and no, your warranty will not be void. Just be careful, it is a mustang...

If it's one from the Ford Racing catalog / line, then no. If it's an aftermarket company's product then the dealership would have to prove the product faulty first.

It will not harm your engine, it should make your engine run better and more power. As for warranty, it will not void it. Although, if you take to the dealership they will want to install the original part.

Hi Travis, arefu is right. However, if you buy certain Ford parts online and have them installed at a Ford dealership, you will also have the part covered under a warranty. You can find the list of covered parts from FordRacing.com here: And you can see the full details on what warranty you’d have if you had it installed at a Ford dealership here: Cory Ford Customer Service Division
